What manual combat means
NC presents AION 2 as a manually controlled action combat game with responsive hit detection. Your decisions about movement, targets and skill timing are central to the encounter.
Begin by learning what an action does and when it is safe to use. A copied sequence is not useful if you cannot interrupt your plan to respond to the fight.
Set up your controls
This is an editorial setup checklist; use the bindings available in your own client.
- Find movement, camera, target selection and target clearing controls.
- Place frequently used attacks and emergency actions where you can reach them while moving.
- Keep your health, relevant resources, target information and party display readable.
- Test targeting at different distances and with multiple enemies before joining a demanding encounter.
- Check your movement and camera again during flight; do not assume ground habits transfer automatically.
Use a read, respond, attack cycle
Read the enemy and your surroundings first: target, direction, warning, available space and allies. Respond to immediate danger through movement or a suitable action, then attack during the safe opportunity.
As you learn a fight, identify repeated warning signs and decide on your response before they happen again. You should be able to explain why you were hit, not just that your equipment needs improvement.
Keep the enemy and your allies visible
This publisher dungeon preview shows the visual scale of a group encounter. Use a camera angle that lets you follow both the target and the space around your character; the screenshot does not explain the enemy’s attack sequence.

Understand your tools
Read current skill descriptions for these properties before building a longer sequence.
| Property | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Target and range | Determines whether the action reaches the intended enemy or ally |
| Activation and movement | Determines how long you commit and whether you can reposition |
| Cooldown and resource cost | Determines when the action is available again |
| Area and conditions | Determines who is affected and what must happen first |
| Defense or control restrictions | Determines which threats the effect can answer |
Coordinate the party
Before the pull, agree on the initial target, positioning and any assigned actions. During the fight, avoid making allies chase unnecessary movement and communicate a problem before it becomes a wipe.
When the attempt fails, identify the first event that made recovery difficult: an extra enemy, a missed response, separation from support or a misunderstood mechanic. Fix that event before changing every player’s build.
Balance changes and regional defenses
The March 2026 regional overhaul introduced Perfect Shield Block and Perfect Parry and separated PvE and PvP damage calculations. These are dated regional changes, not a universal instruction for every class or global patch.
Check your available defensive actions and their current conditions. A skill name in an older guide does not establish that you have the same effect, timing or balance today.
