Getting started

Choose your class

Choose a class by combat distance, party responsibility and the decisions you enjoy making during a fight.

Eight classes are listed in the global showcase. Role comparisons and practice suggestions are editorial; regional Brawler availability is covered separately.

Start with the job you enjoy

Choose the decisions you want to make repeatedly: where enemies stand, who needs help, when to move into melee or where to attack from range. That preference is a stronger starting point than a tier list without a region, patch and test method.

The global showcase lists Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter. Brawler belongs to the documented regional Chapter 1 roster and is not established here as a global launch option.

Meet the eight global classes

Use the official character artwork to recognize each class, then compare its weapon and role in the table below. Each class has a full guide in the class library.

Compare your shortlist

These are identity and learning comparisons, not performance rankings or a list of exclusive party roles.

Solo preferences and group responsibilities

A class theme does not tell you how fast it levels, whether a particular build can complete a dungeon or what a group will ask you to do. Look at the tools unlocked in your current client and agree on your assignment before entering.

For example, the Korean Expedition guide accepts Gladiator in tank or damage recruitment and Chanter in damage or healer recruitment. This is a useful warning against rigid labels, not a promise about global matchmaking rules.

Try a class deliberately

Use the opening combat to answer a short set of practical questions before committing scarce materials.

  • Can you comfortably move, target and reach your defensive actions?
  • Do you enjoy the class’s usual fighting distance?
  • Can you watch the encounter while using its main tools?
  • Does the party responsibility you want match the tools you enjoy using?
  • Would you still enjoy the class if its relative damage changed?

Match your choice with your friends

Agree on region, faction and server first. Then discuss what everyone wants to contribute and where the group may need help. A willingness to learn an assignment is more useful than selecting a class solely because someone claims it is mandatory.

Read the two or three class guides that fit your shortlist. Each includes solo habits, party responsibilities and a first practice session.
