Is Chanter a good fit?
Chanter’s official identity emphasizes group utility. Consider it if you enjoy supporting others while remaining engaged in the fight, and you want to make choices based on what the party needs next.
These recommendations are editorial. Support is a responsibility to plan, not proof of a fixed healing output or a guarantee that Chanter substitutes for Cleric in every encounter.
Solo: understand the value of each support tool
Read which effects benefit only you, an ally or multiple party members. Practice combining an available support action with your attacks, observing duration and resource use instead of activating every skill at once.
Use solo fights to learn movement and attack commitment. A self-support effect does not remove the need to leave a dangerous area or control how many enemies you engage.
Group: define the support assignment
Before entering, agree whether you are primarily contributing damage, healing or another support function. The Korean Expedition guide includes Chanter in damage and healer recruitment roles; the current global client and your actual loadout determine what you can take on.
Coordinate overlapping party tools and learn their ranges. Stay in a position where the intended allies can benefit, and use the encounter plan to decide when a short-lived effect would matter most.
If you have a specific backup responsibility, such as helping an ally recover, keep the needed action available rather than spending it without considering the next mechanic.

First practice session
Practice seeing both your own fight and the party’s needs.
- Identify the recipient, range, duration and cooldown of each selected support effect.
- Check which effects can be used together and which have restrictions in their tooltips.
- Practice returning attention to party status between your own attacks.
- After a group attempt, name one support action that helped and one that could have been timed better.
Build for a clear purpose
Start with the group assignment and choose the tools needed to fulfil it. A collection of individually attractive skills is not automatically a coherent support setup.
Compare practical outcomes: whether allies received the effect, whether it covered the dangerous moment and whether you survived to use it again. Review offensive contribution alongside those outcomes rather than judging a support setup by damage alone.
Compare nearby playstyles
Compare Cleric if healing decisions are the main attraction. Compare Gladiator if you prefer to focus on frontline attacks. Chanter makes most sense when its own support-and-staff identity is what you want to play.
