Is Gladiator a good fit?
Gladiator suits a player who wants an active melee role and a large-blade fighting style. The official identity emphasizes broad attacks. The recommendations below are editorial starting points, not a damage ranking or a tested build.
Your first decision is whether you enjoy watching enemies at close range. You need to see the next danger while deciding when to keep attacking and when to leave melee distance.
Solo: control the size of the fight
Begin with one enemy and learn how much time each attack commits you to. Add another target only when you can still track both enemies and keep a clear route out.
Broad attacks reward awareness of nearby enemies. Before attacking beside another pack, turn the camera and check what might be caught by your next action. Finishing the current fight safely is better practice than repeatedly recovering from an accidental pull.
Group: agree on your frontline job
Ask whether the group expects you to deal damage or take a defensive assignment. The Korean Expedition guide supports Gladiator in both tank and damage recruitment roles; that is regional evidence, not a global queue guarantee.
When another player is leading the pull, follow their target and let them establish positioning. If you are responsible for enemies, explain where you intend to hold them and avoid unnecessary movement that forces the party to chase.

First practice session
Use a familiar low-risk fight to learn one thing at a time.
- Identify which of your unlocked actions hit one target and which affect an area.
- Use a short attack sequence, then deliberately stop to respond to an enemy warning.
- Practice moving out and returning to a useful position without drawing another enemy.
- After a defeat, decide whether the cause was too many targets, a late defensive response or attacking through a mechanic.
Build around a specific problem
If you lose attack time because you are constantly repositioning, work on your approach and camera before spending on a new setup. If you are surviving comfortably but missing a content requirement, inspect the exact equipment or skill requirement next.
For a defensive party assignment, check what your current skills actually offer in threat, protection and recovery. A greatsword and a frontline label alone do not establish a tank loadout.
Compare nearby playstyles
Compare Templar if organizing and protecting the frontline matters more to you than broad melee offense. Compare Assassin if you prefer a precision-and-stealth identity. Neither comparison establishes which class is easier or stronger.
