Make three choices together
Share your region, faction and server name before anyone creates a main character. A server name by itself is incomplete: names can be reused in different regions.
The global service lists Europe, NA West, NA East, Latin America and Asia. Choose a region that fits your group’s location and usual play hours. Steam and PURPLE use the same game content and servers.

New launch servers by region
These are the new launch-server columns in NC’s October 4 list. Advanced Access servers are listed separately in the announcement and should not be confused with these destinations. Agree on the region and faction before choosing a name.

Check the client spelling and the current opponent
The launch list prints “Lumie” for NA West and “Tahavatha” for Europe; the matchmaking notice uses “Lumiel” and “Tahavata.” Confirm the destination in the character-creation screen with your group.
The initial matchmaking notice pairs opposing factions for activities such as the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts. NC says these opponents will change periodically. The Asia launch list includes Ariel and Azphel, but the initial Asia matchmaking table does not list them; do not assume an unlisted pairing.

Elyos and Asmodians
The two factions begin in separate regions and follow their own side of the story. Each global home server hosts one faction, with opposing-faction servers paired for shared conflict such as the Abyss.
Choose the faction whose setting you enjoy, then keep your group together. This guide does not establish a superior faction for damage, rewards or population. Class preference and faction preference are separate decisions.
The two faction identities
Compare the official faction art as a visual introduction to Elyos and Asmodians. These showcase characters represent the factions; they are not named equipment sets.

Home server versus instanced play
The September 30 transfer notice confirms cross-server instanced content, including dungeons. That gives dungeon groups more options than a single home server, but it does not mean that all open-world activities or every regional combination share matchmaking.
For a group that wants to quest and explore together, starting on the same home server remains the straightforward plan. Before changing an established character, check whether the activity you want already supports cross-server grouping.

If your planned server is unavailable
Check the official server announcement and the live character-creation screen. Discuss a fallback with your group before selecting the first available world. Do not infer that a server is empty or permanently closed from a temporary creation restriction.
- Keep the fallback in the same agreed region and faction.
- Tell friends the full destination before spending character-specific rewards or building long-term progression there.
- Recheck whether your group is choosing an Advanced Access or launch server.
- Read the transfer restrictions before treating a later move as guaranteed. Transfers are announced for October 14 and are not live as of this review.
