Learn movement before a difficult fight
AION 2 presents walking, flying and swimming as connected ways to explore. The sky is also part of combat, so comfortable camera and movement controls help with both travel and survival.
Check your own key bindings for movement, flight and camera control. Practice starting, steering and stopping in a quiet area, then repeat while keeping a selected target in view. Watch the interface for unavailable actions or resource warnings.
Choose a route in three dimensions
A marker that looks close on a flat map can be above a cliff, below a ledge or inside a different space. Use the terrain and objective text together before assuming the shortest horizontal path is the correct approach.
| What you see | What to check | Useful next step |
|---|---|---|
| A marker directly above or below you | Elevation, nearby cliffs, entrances and the current movement state. | Look around vertically and approach from a safe, visible route. |
| Water between you and an objective | Whether the objective is on the surface, shore or below it. | Orient the camera and identify the way back before exploring. |
| An objective at a wall or sealed entrance | The active quest text and any required interaction. | Resolve the quest step instead of repeatedly pushing toward the marker. |
| A party member disappears around terrain | Their position, elevation and route. | Regroup before starting an encounter. |
Companion travel in the publisher preview
The official pet gallery shows aerial and water-based travel examples. These images help distinguish the appearance of a travel companion from your character’s own flight; they do not establish a particular companion’s current unlocks or restrictions.

An efficient exploration loop
Choose one nearby objective, travel to it, complete its interaction, and then review the next destination. Group nearby tasks when that makes sense, but keep the story objective clear so a long detour does not leave you unsure how to continue.
- Read the objective before leaving the current hub or quest area.
- Note a recognizable landmark and a route back.
- Leave room in your inventory before a longer trip.
- Record a useful discovery with its region, landmark and height.
- Before logging out, leave yourself one clear next objective.
Movement during combat
Practice moving while keeping the enemy and the ground visible. Before committing to an attack, check whether you can still respond to a warning or follow the party’s next movement.
For unfamiliar aerial or water encounters, observe the actual range and targeting behavior of your equipped skills. Being able to reach a location does not guarantee that every combat action works there. Avoid importing flight timers or movement restrictions from original AION guides.
