Your first steps in Atreia

1. Get into the correct service

• Choose the global Windows client on Steam or PURPLE and compare your PC with the requirements.
• Check whether you have access now or need to wait for the scheduled October 5 free-to-play opening at 13:00 UTC / 15:00 CEST.
• Use the account that owns your progress or pack. Follow official instructions if you need to link launchers.
• With friends, use the October 3–4 launch server announcement and write down region + faction + server before creating a character.

2. Choose a character you want to learn

Pick the role and combat style you enjoy rather than a tier-list position. Templar, Cleric and Chanter offer distinct frontline, healing and support identities; the other five global classes provide different damage styles.

Review your creator choices before confirming. Try the tutorial and early combat before investing limited materials or purchasing something for a character you may replace.

3. Make the controls comfortable

• Set the interface language and make the camera comfortable before a difficult fight.
• Find the current bindings for movement, targeting and available defensive skills.
• Practice on a low-risk encounter until you can watch the fight instead of your action bar.
• Learn the flight and swimming prompts when the tutorial introduces them.

4. Follow the next clear objective

Use the quest text and tracked objective to choose your next action. If a marker seems unreachable, check its height and the route rather than repeatedly running toward the same point. Read any prerequisite or interaction message.

Avoid opening the Map’s Duty tab before level 45. NC’s known-issues notice, updated October 4, says that opening it early can leave Duties unavailable when you reach level 45 until the following day. If this has already happened, check Duties again the following day; the notice does not give an immediate workaround.

When a new system opens, inspect what it consumes and what it rewards before using it. Preserve items you cannot yet identify; a small inventory cleanup is less costly than accidentally consuming a limited upgrade material.

5. Prepare for your first group activity

• Open the content screen and read the actual entry conditions, difficulty and reward eligibility.
• Tell the party that this is your first attempt and agree on a pace.
• Know which available skill helps you survive and which tools support your role.
• Check the reward screen before leaving the instance.

6. Spend with a purpose

Read the item’s bound status and the currency a transaction accepts. Membership opens economy access, and its current benefits apply to the purchased server. Finalize your main server before buying it.

The October 3–4 Founder’s Pack announcement plans broader cosmetic access after Advanced Access. Its exclusions include membership and the Campaign Supply and Styling Chests; do not assume every pack item will be available on every character.

End the session by choosing one next objective: continue the story, practice your class, prepare for an instance or explore. Save detailed progression optimization for the point where you understand what the upgrade changes.

7. Check launch rewards before signing off

The October 3–4 launch rewards announcement says to create an account and log in before the December 1–2 maintenance to qualify for the announced gifts, then claim the automatic in-game mail before its December 8–9 expiry, depending on the published timezone. The notice’s PST and CET times do not align, so log in and claim early; the rewards guide preserves the published deadlines.

Confirm which character will receive or use an item before claiming it, and read any binding or use restrictions. Launch gifts, coupons and event prizes have their own rules; one promotion’s deadline does not apply to every reward.
