Gathering unlock and your first node

The Korean guide unlocks gathering at character level 45. Interact with a resource node using F in the documented PC controls. The attempt succeeds if the success gauge reaches 100% before the failure gauge; failure occurs if the failure gauge fills first.

Every attempt reduces node durability, whether it succeeds or fails. The node disappears when that durability is exhausted. A failed attempt therefore also uses one opportunity to harvest that node.

Gathering has its own progression

Repeated gathering raises extraction level and awards its own skill points. Gathering skills are passive and improve areas such as speed, success and specialized extraction. The guide provides a skill reset that returns spent points.

At beginner extraction level 50, a promotion quest allows advancement to the professional tier. This is extraction level 50, distinct from the character-level-45 unlock.

Plan a material run from the recipe backward

Open the recipe you actually intend to use. Record its material names, quantities, eligible output and any prerequisite item before starting a gathering route. Similar-looking resources are not substitutes unless the recipe allows them.

Count what is already in your inventory, then collect only the shortfall. Review the gathering passives available for the resource types on that run. End the run when the recipe target is met or when the remaining materials are cheaper to obtain another way.

• Write one target, such as the materials missing for one specific craft.
• Leave room for the run’s expected items before you set out.
• Track successful harvests and time spent; repeated failures reduce useful output per visit.
• Recheck the recipe before consuming materials, especially if using a bound variant.

Crafting materials do not all come from gathering

Regional updates also attach materials to combat rewards: December’s Hard Conquest announcement includes Draconic crafting materials. The May Dragon Lord equipment additions require Transfer Crafting rather than a generic gathering-only recipe.

Separate a recipe into gathered, traded, activity-reward and prerequisite-item components according to the current client. Plan the scarce component first; collecting abundant materials does not resolve a missing source item.

Craft for use or craft for sale?

For personal use, compare the total cost of the craft with an equivalent finished item. For resale, also inspect the output’s trade restrictions and the amount a sale would actually return. A craft can be useful to equip while being unsuitable to sell.

Gathered materials still have a cost: the time spent acquiring them and, when tradable, the proceeds you could receive by selling them. Use the buy-or-craft worked example to make the comparison before purchasing a large batch.
