Plan your next gear upgrade

Choose one useful improvement, compare its total cost and know when to stop investing in a temporary item.

Editorial decision guide, reviewed October 2, 2026. Work from the requirements and previews in your current client; this is not a fixed global best-in-slot route.

Start with the next activity you want to complete

Choose a concrete target: qualify for an activity, survive an encounter you are learning or improve your contribution to a regular group. Record the entry requirement or the specific problem you observed. A gear plan should solve that problem.

For entry, compare your character against the exact requirement displayed for that difficulty. For repeated deaths, distinguish an unavoidable stat shortfall from missed movement or encounter mechanics before buying equipment.

Use a short upgrade shortlist

Compare at most a few realistic options for the next slot. Write down each option’s full cost, the improvement visible in the tooltip and how you will obtain it. Include an upgrade to your existing item only if that system is available and the item is eligible.

Use the right stage of development

During frequent replacements, reserve expensive materials for a clear requirement or an item you expect to keep. After reaching a repeatable activity, compare its reward list with your actual weak slots and focus one project at a time.

Advanced regional systems have prerequisites. Soul Fuse was announced for fully reinforced, fully Soul Bound equipment; May’s Dragon Lord equipment uses a specific Transfer Crafting route. Seeing either system in a Korean guide does not make it the next step for a new global character.

Finish, check the result, then choose again

After one completed improvement, check the original target. If you now meet the entry requirement, move on to learning the activity. If the problem remains, examine the result before spending on the next option.

Keep a screenshot or a short record of the old and new item. Compare performance under similar conditions, including the same activity and party role. Do not attribute every damage change to one item when buffs, enemies or skill choices also changed.
